Photos of Meerkats (Suricata suricatta), a highly social animal, frequently exhibiting altruistic behavior, with a sentry characteristically on guard of the 'mob' or 'gang'. They originate from the Kalahari Desert in Southern Africa. Thankfully, they are not currently on the endangered species list.
